Project Focus

The engagement focused on the design and delivery of web-based sports technology solutions that enabled organisations to manage competitions, tournaments and participant information more effectively. A significant part of the work involved supporting the development of a tournament planning and administration platform for the Lawn Tennis Association, together with additional work on UEFA-related initiatives.

As a growing technology company, Sportlabs also required support in areas beyond front-end delivery. This created an opportunity to contribute across UX, project management and Agile delivery, helping the organisation establish effective development practices while continuing to deliver innovative sports technology solutions.

My Contribution

Because of my broad technical and delivery experience, I was engaged to support the business in multiple capacities. Alongside hands-on UX and front-end development responsibilities, I provided Agile coaching and project management guidance to help the company mature its delivery processes and improve collaboration across teams.

Main contributions included:

  • UX architecture and interface design
  • Front-end application development
  • User journey analysis and optimisation
  • Tournament management platform design and implementation
  • Agile coaching and Scrum guidance
  • Project planning and delivery support
  • Stakeholder and client collaboration
  • Information architecture and workflow design
  • Cross-browser and cross-device compatibility testing
  • Technical mentoring and development best practices

Technical Environment

The solutions were developed using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Knockout and Underscore, supported by AJAX-driven interactions and Parse technologies. Umbraco CMS was used where appropriate, while Agile methodologies helped structure delivery and support collaboration between business stakeholders, developers and clients.

Project Outcome

The engagement helped Sportlabs deliver innovative sports technology solutions while strengthening its development and delivery capabilities. Through a combination of UX expertise, front-end development, Agile coaching and project management support, the company was able to enhance both its products and its internal delivery processes, contributing to successful outcomes for clients, including the Lawn Tennis Association and UEFA.
