Multi-brand e-commerce, UX architecture, responsive front-end development and customer experience design.

HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Hybris, JSP, Responsive Design and E-commerce Development.

Project Focus

The project centred on the delivery of two separate retail experiences serving different customer segments whilst operating from a common Hybris commerce platform. Everything5Pounds.com was positioned as a value-driven retail proposition, while Market.com was designed as a broader e-commerce destination with a more traditional online shopping experience.

A key challenge was creating distinct user journeys, visual identities and interface behaviours for each brand without duplicating core platform functionality. The solution required careful UX planning and front-end architecture to ensure that each site delivered an experience appropriate to its audience while maintaining efficiency within a shared technology ecosystem.

My Contribution

Drawing on extensive experience delivering e-commerce solutions for major retail and fashion brands, I was engaged to provide UX leadership and senior front-end expertise across both websites. Working alongside designers, developers and business stakeholders, I helped shape the customer experience, establish interface standards and deliver responsive front-end solutions for both brands.

Main contributions included:

  • UX architecture and customer journey design
  • Responsive front-end development
  • Creation of page layouts and interface components
  • Development of distinct user experiences for two separate brands
  • Mobile and desktop navigation design
  • Styling and implementation across key e-commerce pages
  • Guidance and support for junior developers
  • Collaboration with backend developers and business stakeholders
  • Cross-browser and cross-device compatibility testing
  • Front-end standards and best practice implementation

Technical Environment

The solution was built on the Hybris enterprise commerce platform using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery and JSP technologies. Responsive design principles were employed throughout to ensure an effective shopping experience across desktop, tablet and mobile devices, while close collaboration between UX, design and development teams supported successful delivery.

Project Outcome

The project successfully delivered two distinct e-commerce experiences from a single commerce platform, enabling Camden Market to address different retail audiences without duplicating backend systems or product management processes. Through effective UX architecture, responsive front-end implementation and careful brand differentiation, both websites provided tailored customer experiences while benefiting from a shared technology foundation.
