Bid on This was an innovative online auction platform that engaged me to enhance the user experience, modernise the front-end architecture and help introduce Agile working practices. The role combined UX/UI leadership, front-end development and Scrum Master responsibilities within a growing start-up environment.

Project Focus

The project focused on improving the usability, visual consistency and responsiveness of an online auction platform. As the product evolved, there was a need to establish a more cohesive user experience across the core web application and supporting WordPress CMS, while ensuring the platform remained scalable and easy to maintain.

Alongside the technical delivery, the business was looking to introduce more structured Agile working practices. This created an opportunity to combine UX/UI leadership with Scrum Master responsibilities, helping both the product and the delivery process mature simultaneously.

My Contribution

Working closely with stakeholders, developers and business representatives, I led the enhancement of the platform's user experience and front-end implementation while also supporting the adoption of Agile delivery practices. My role bridged the gap between business objectives, user needs and technical implementation.

Main contributions included:

  • Production of a front-end style guide

Technical Environment

The platform utilised a modern front-end technology stack including HTML5, CSS3, Angular, JavaScript, Sass, Compass and Bootstrap 3. Supporting technologies included Grunt, Bower and Jasmine, while WordPress was used to manage content. Delivery took place within an Agile environment that I helped shape and support through Scrum Master activities.

Outcome

The engagement delivered significant improvements to the consistency, usability and responsiveness of the Bid on This platform while helping establish a stronger design foundation for future development. Through the introduction of Agile practices, style guide standards and enhanced UX/UI principles, the project benefited from both improved product quality and more structured delivery processes.
